Abstract

A two-dimensional polyimine network (see picture) is formed by condensation polymerization of trialdehydes and diamines co-adsorbed on an Au(111) surface under ultrahigh-vacuum conditions. The local bonding pattern is characterized by STM, which shows that the connectivity of the network is influenced by the kinetic parameters of the preparation procedure.
