Ilenia obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology in 2010, with a thesis on production of antibodies for difficult antigens. She obtained her Master’s degree in Industrial Biotechnology in 2013, with a one year work on identification of transcription factors in T. melanosporum. Both works were done at the Department of Life Science in the University of Parma, Italy, under the supervision of Prof. S. Ottonello.
Ilenia was enrolled as a PhD student and Marie Curie fellow in Gothelf lab in September 2013. She is a member of the Marie Curie Multi Initial Training Network, European School of DNA Nanotechnology (EScoDNA), coordinated by professor Kurt Gothelf. She obtained her PhD October 26 2016.
In Gothelf lab she is a part of the “Sensor Team” with a project on the development of a new class of aptamers for the detection of small molecules (toxins, markers disease, etc.).
She was elected as the PhD student representative in EScoDNA (http://escodna.eu/) since April 2014.
She was hired as a Post Doc on September 1. 2016 in Gothelf lab.
